This just isn't the month for Oakland Raiders and injuries. The latest person to fall into the grips of medical oddities is Langston Walker, an offensive tackle. Langston was rushed to emergency surgery to repair a stomach hemorrhage. Now those are two words you don't want to hear together.

We have to start be defining a hemorrhage. A hemorrhage is any sort of internal bleeding. The word is scary enough, and it should be because you cannot see the bleeding. Medical staff have to look for other symptoms of a hemorrhage.

Stomach hemorrhage symptoms would be:

• Pain
• Blood colored stool
• Cramps
• Diarrhea

It's important to note that a stomach hemorrhage isn't a diagnosis so much as a symptom of another problem.

A stomach hemorrhage could be a symptom of:

• ulcer
• gastritis
• cancer
• trauma

Treatment for a stomach hemorrhage is an endoscopy. An endoscopy is a non-invasive procedure that is used to look at internal organs. Typically an endoscope is used through the throat, and at the end of the tool may be a camera, snippers or other tools.

Once the procedure is over, a patient can leave the hospital and begin any sort of rehabilitation or treatment programs specified for their root cause.

In Langston's case, the theory is that his stomach hemorrhage was caused by a hit he suffered during a football game.
